Brewery culture in the district of Šumperk at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá pivovarskou kulturou na přelomu 19. a 20. století v okrese Šumperk se zaměřením na pivovary v Šumperku, Třemešku a Hanušovicích, patřící pod akciovou společnost Nordmährische Brauerei- und Malzfabriks-Aktiengesellschaft in Mährisch Schönberg. U průmyslových pivovarů je zahrnut historický a stavebně-technický vývoj, který je doplněn o pivovarskou a vizuální kulturu. Pivovarská kultura zahrnuje společenské a kulturní akce pořádané nejen samotnými pivovary, ale i různými spolky. V rámci kultury je v diplomové práci zahrnuta i vizuální kultura, zabývající se propagací pivovarů, která spočívala v pivních láhvích, etiketách, pivních táccích, pivovarských cedulích, ale i v pohlednicích.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on brewing culture at the turn of the 19th and 20th century in the district of Šumperk, and is centered around the breweries in Šumperk, Třemešek, and Hanušovice that belong to the joint-stock company called Nordmährische Brauerei und Malzfabriks, Aktiengesellschaft in Mährisch Schönberg. Chapters about industrial breweries also include their historical and structural-technical development, which is accompanied by brewing and visual culture. Brewing culture includes social and cultural events organized by not only breweries but also different associations. Visual culture, which is part of the culture in this diploma thesis, is focused on brewery's advertisements, which includes beer bottles, labels, beer coasters, brewery's signs or postcards.
