Hojení ran je komplexní a dynamický proces řízený množstvím cytokinů, chemokinů, růstových faktorů a komponent extracelulární matrix (ECM). Narušení rovnováhy v působení těchto molekul může vést k prodloužení hojícího procesu nebo ke vzniku chronické rány. Wound healing is a complex and dynamic process governed by a variety of cytokines, chemokines, growth factors and components of extracellular matrix (ECM). A disruption of an equilibrium in the action of these molecules leads into improper wound resolution.
