Transition from the first grade of primary school with Montessori education to the second grade of primary education with mainstream education from the pupil's perspective

Abstract:

Diplomová práce Přechod z 1. stupně základní školy s Montessori výukou na 2. stupeň základní školy s běžnou výukou z pohledu žáka se zabývá tím, jak žáci prožívají přechod mezi odlišnými typy výuky, jaké jsou jejich obavy a očekávání spojené s tímto přechodem a co škola, učitel nebo rodič by mohli udělat, aby přechod usnadnili. Diplomová práce je rozdělena na 2 části. První (teoretická) část se zaměřuje na přiblížení Montessori pedagogiky, co stojí za jejím vznikem, za jakým účelem vznikaly alternativní školy, odkud vycházeli myšlenky Marie Montessori a kdo vlastně byla. V dalších kapitolách se již stručněji popisuje Montessori metoda, její principy, myšlenky, práce se senzitivním obdobím apod. Poslední kapitoly jsou zaměřeny na samotný přechod, jeho typy a faktory, které jej ovlivňují. Druhá (empirická) část je případovou kvalitativní studií, která se zabývala přechodem žáků 5. ročníku ze základní školy s Montessori výukou na 2. stupeň základní školy s běžnou výukou. Pro výzkum byly využity metody skupinového rozhovoru s žáky 5. ročníku před přechodem a dotazníku se stejnými žáky, ale již v 6. ročníku po přechodu. Z následné analýzy dat, pomocí otevřeného kódování, vznikaly kategorie, ve kterých je popsán žákům pohled na Montessori metodu, rozdílnost ve vyučování a jejich prožívání a obavy z přechodu. V poslední kategorii za pomocí získaných dat uvádím některé z možností, jak by škola a učitelé mohli žákům přechod usnadnit.

Abstract:

The thesis Transition from the first grade of primary school with Montessori education to the second grade of primary education with mainstream education from the pupil´s perspective is about how pupils experience the transition between different types of teaching, what are their fears and expectations associated with this transition, and what the school, teacher or parent can do to make the transition easier. The thesis is divided into two parts. The first (theoretical) part focuses on an introduction to Montessori pedagogy, what was behind its origins, the purpose of alternative schools, where Maria Montessori's ideas came from and who she was. In the following chapters, the Montessori method, its principles, ideas, work with the sensitive period, etc. are described more briefly. The last chapters focus on the transition itself, its types, and the factors that influence it. The second (empirical) part is a qualitative case study that dealt with the transition of fifth grade pupils from a Montessori primary school to a second grade primary school with regular education. The research used group interview methods with Year 5 pupils before the transition and a questionnaire with the same pupils but already in Year 6 after the transition. From the subsequent data analysis using open coding, categories emerged describing the pupils' perspectives on the Montessori method, differences in teaching, and their experiences and concerns about transition. The last category, using the data collected, lists some of the ways in which the school and teachers could make the transition easier for the students.
