Language Mediation in German as a Foreign Language Learning with a Focus on the Topic of Tourism

Abstract:

The thesis deals with the topic of language mediation in the teaching of German language at a grammar school. The thesis is divided into three main parts. The first part deals with the theoretical background and the setting of the topic of mediation in foreign language education. The central part deals with the actual design of the five mediation activities at A2 level, focusing on the topic of tourism. The methodological and didactic structure is taken from the publication Hand- und Übungsbuch zur Sprachmittlung Italienisch - Deutsch by Peggy Katelhön and Martina Neid Curcio, 2012. The aim of the activities is to provide examples of mediation situations and to prepare the pupils linguistically and interculturally for them. The final part of the thesis is empirical where activation research is conducted. Its main aim is to evaluate the proposed activities by means of a semi-structured interview and feedback by means of a questionnaire.

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem jazykové mediace ve výuce německého jazyka na gymnáziu. Práce je rozdělena do třech hlavních částí. První část se zabývá teoretickými poznatky a zasazením tématu mediace do cizojazyčného vzdělávání. Druhá, stěžejní část práce, se zabývá vlastním návrhem pěti mediačních aktivit na úrovni A2 se zaměřením na téma turismus. Jejich metodicko – didaktická struktura je převzata z publikace Hand- und Übungsbuch zur Sprachmittlung Italienisch – Deutsch od autorek Peggy Katelhön a Martiny Neid Curcio z roku 2012. Hlavním záměrem aktivit je poskytnutí reálných mediačních situací a jazykově i interkulturelně na ně žáky připravit. V poslední, empirické části práce, je proveden akční výzkum, jehož hlavním cílem je evaluace navržených aktivit pomocí dvou výzkumných metod a sice polostrukturovaného rozhovoru a dotazníků s otevřenými otázkami.
