The Role of Motivation of Unemployed Under 30 During a Long Job Search

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá tím, jakou roli hraje motivace při hledání zaměstnání. Konkrétně se zaměřuje na cílovou skupinu dlouhodobě nezaměstnaných do 30 let. Teoretická část se ze všeho nejdříve soustředí na rozbor témat motivace a dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti. Jelikož je hlavním cílem práce prozkoumat jejich vzájemný vztah, pozornost je dále věnována socioekonomickým faktorům, které ovlivňují dlouhodobou nezaměstnanost, s důrazem na to, jak se tyto faktory odráží na motivaci nezaměstnaného hledat si nové zaměstnání. Jak se ukazuje, dlouhodobá nezaměstnanost je stav, jenž negativně působí nejen na psychický a fyzický stav, což se nepochybně podepisuje i na fluktuaci úrovně motivace, ale ovlivňuje také sociální status a vztahy jedince. Tyto dopady rozebírá další z kapitol, na níž posléze navazuje část zkoumající propojenost motivace a dlouhodobé nezaměstnanosti do větší hloubky. Teoretickou část pak uzavírají poznatky a strategie, jež vedou ke zvýšení motivace. Praktická část staví na poznatcích prezentovaných v první části diplomové práce a metodou dotazníku zjišťuje, nakolik se teoretické předpoklady blíží skutečnosti.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the role that motivation plays in seeking for a job. More specificaly, it focuses on long-term unemployed of the under 30s demographic. First of all, the theoretical part concentrates on the analysis of the topics of motivation and long-term unemployment. For the main goal of this thesis is to explore their mutual relationship, the attention is then paid to socio-economic aspects that influence long-term unemployement with an emphasis on how they reflect on the motivation of job seekers. The research shows that long-term unemployment negatively affects not only a psychological and physical condition, which undoubtedly impacts the motivational levels, but also influences the social status and relations of an individual. These impacts are discussed in one of the subsequent chapters that is followed up with the deeper analysis of the relation between motivation and long-term unemployment. At the end of the theoretical part there is a summary of the findings and strategies that should lead to the increased levels of motivation. The purpose of the practical part is to build on the information presented in the first part of the thesis and discover to what extent it corresponds with the reality.
