Development of the balance of payments of the Czech republic in the period 1996-2017

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zaměřuje na platební bilanci České a částečně Slovenské republiky v letech 1996 až 2017. Cílem práce je analyzovat vývoj platební bilance České republiky se zaměřením na klíčové faktory, které ovlivnili jednotlivé účty platební bilance a částečně komparovat s vývojem platební bilance Slovenské republiky. Práce dochází k závěru, že nejvýznamnější položkou platební bilance České republiky jsou přímé zahraniční investice. Příliv přímých investic od roku 2008 nevykazuje rostoucí trend, zatímco objem vyplacených dividend zahraničním investorům ano. Z práce také vyplývá, že zavedení eura na Slovensku nezapříčinilo dodatečný příliv zahraničních investic do země, oproti zachování české koruny v České republice.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis focuses on the balance of payments of the Czech Republic and partially of Slovakia in the period of 1996-2017. The aim of the thesis is to analyze the development of the balance of payments of the Czech Republic considering key factors affecting its individual accounts and also to provide partial comparison with development of the balance of payments of Slovakia. The conclusion of the thesis suggests that the most important item in the balance of payments of the Czech Republic is foreign direct investment. The inflow of direct investment has not reported an increasing tendency since 2008, whereas the volume of dividends paid to foreign investors has grown. The thesis also concludes that the introduction of Euro in Slovakia did not cause additional inflow of foreign investment into the country, as opposed to keeping the Czech Crown in the Czech Republic
