The impact of bossing on professional firefighters in the fire Department in the selected region

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se podrobně věnuje problematice bossingu, tedy psychického teroru na pracovišti, a jeho dopadům na profesionální hasiče ve vybraném kraji. Bossing je zkoumán pomocí definic, formách projevů, včetně verbálního a neverbálního obtěžování a specifických výzev, kterým musí hasiči čelit v důsledku vysokých nároků na jejich profesionální dovednosti a psychickou odolnost. Práce používá smíšenou strategii kvalitativních a kvantitativních metod dotazníky a rozhovory s vybranými hasiči, ředitelem územního odboru a psychologem vybraného kraje pro hloubkovou analýzu příčin, projevů a důsledků bossingu. Zvláštní pozornost je věnována organizační kultuře, vedení a mezilidským vztahům jako faktorům, které mohou bossing podněcovat. Cílem práce je nejen identifikovat a analyzovat specifické situace a dopady bossingu na hasiče a jejich pracovní výkon, ale také na základě získaných dat navrhnout efektivní proveditelné preventivní opatření, které by mohly pomoci v regulaci bossingu a zlepšení celkového pracovního prostředí u profesionálních hasičů. V závěru jsou prezentovány výsledky empirického výzkumu, které poskytují komplexní pohled na problematiku bossingu ve vybraném kraji, jeho vliv na profesionální hasiče a doporučení pro posílení ochrany hasičů před negativními dopady bossingu. Tímto se práce snaží přispět k lepšímu pochopení bossingu a navrhuje konkrétní kroky pro jeho řešení a prevenci v kontextu hasičského záchranného sboru.

Abstract:

This thesis focuses in detail on the issue of bossing, i.e. psychological terror in the workplace, and its impact on professional firefighters in the selected region. Bossing is explored in terms of definitions, forms of expression, including verbal and non-verbal harassment, and the specific challenges that firefighters face due to the high demands on their professional skills and psychological resilience. The thesis uses a mixed strategy of qualitative and quantitative methods - questionnaires and interviews with selected firefighters, the director of the territorial department and the psychologist of the Fire Service of the selected region, for an in-depth analysis of the causes, manifestations and consequences of bossing. Particular attention is paid to organisational culture, leadership and interpersonal relationships as factors that may encourage bossing. The aim of the paper is not only to identify and analyses specific situations and effects of bossing on firefighters and their job performance, but also to suggest effective feasible preventive measures based on the data obtained that could help in controlling bossing and improving the overall work environment of professional firefighters. Finally, the results of the empirical research are presented to provide a comprehensive view of the issue of bossing in the selected region, its impact on professional firefighters, and recommendations for strengthening the protection of firefighters from the negative effects of bossing. In doing so, the thesis seeks to contribute to a better understanding of bossing and proposes concrete steps to address and prevent it in the context of the fire and rescue service.
