Analýza vlivu fundamentálních zpráv na cenu vybraných finančních aktiv

Abstract:

Cílem této práce bylo odhalit závislosti mezi periodicky publikovanými zprávami fundamentálního charakteru a cenami vybraných cenných a průmyslových kovů. Nejprve byly popsány dosavadní znalosti z oblasti tématu této práce skrze studie využívající různé metody pro odhalení podobných vztahů. Pote byla provedena samotná analýza na datech mezi roky 2008 a 2023 s využitím lineární regrese, ve které byly využity dvě různé vysvětlující proměnné představující dva přístupy k odhalení vztahů. Těmi jsou samotná složka překvapení (šoku) a výnosy ze dne oznámení zprávy. Ačkoliv s využitím obou přístupů byly nalezeny významné vztahy mezi vysvětlující proměnnou a budoucími výnosy na různých zpožděních, validace těchto výsledků ve formě obchodní strategie neprokázala, že by nalezené vztahy mohly být využity k dosažení výnosů statisticky významných od nuly.

Abstract:

The main objective of this thesis was to investigate the potential impact of periodically published reports on the prices of selected precious and industrial metals. After an overview of the current understanding of this topic as well as of methods used in studies with similar aims was conducted, an empirical analysis was conducted. For empirical analysis of data from 2008 to 2023, linear regression was used in the approach utilising the surprise effect of the report’s publication as a predictor and in the approach utilizing returns from the report’s publication day. While the predictors significantly explain the various future returns of selected metals in both approaches, the out-of-sample testing confirms that most of these returns are not significantly different from zero.
