Economic Development of Great Britain in 1980's and Thatcherism

Abstract:

Cílem práce je analyzovat vývoj ve Velké Británii v osmdesátých letech 20. století a poukázat na důležitost změn, které se v té době odehrály. Práce se zabývá fenoménem thatcherismu a jeho tvůrkyní a propagátorkou Margaret Thatcherovou. Podařilo se jí změnit směrování ekonomiky, protože opustila politiku konsensu, která byla praktikována od konce druhé světové války. Tato práce se také zabývá některými zajímavými implikacemi její politiky -- snižováním inflace, privatizací, oslabováním odborů. Vláda Margaret Thatcherové nastavila nový kurz, který se stal inspirací pro další státy.

Abstract:

The purpose of this work is to analyze the development in the 1980's in the Great Britain and to show the importance of changes which happened in that time. It deals with an extraordinary phenomenon -- Thatcherism and its creator and propagator -- Margaret Thatcher. She changed the directions of the economy because she abandoned the policy of consensus which was realized from the end of the Second World War. This work is focused on some of the most interesting implications of her policy - privatization, reducing inflation, trade unions. Her government established new goals which were inspiration for other countries.
