Karcinom prostaty je nejčastěji se vyskytujícím karcinomem, který postihuje Evropany mužského pohlaví. Toto onemocnění představuje v současnosti významný zdravotní problém, a to především v rozvinutých zemích se zvyšujícím se podílem starších mužů v celkové populaci.
