Specifics of communication skills of bilingual children

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá specifiky komunikačních schopností bilingvních dětí. Teoretická část práce vysvětluje pojmy týkající se komunikace, řeči a jazyka. Dále popisuje jazykové roviny v ontogenezi řeči a zabývá se vnějšími faktory, které ovlivňují celkový řečový vývoj jedince. Poté se práce zaměřuje na problematiku bilingvismu a jeho různé definice a rovněž objasňuje jednotlivá dělení a druhy bilingvismu. V závěru teoretické části se práce věnuje specifikům řeči u bilingvních dětí. Empirická část analyzuje pomocí kvalitativního šetření specifika komunikace bilingvních dětí. Na základě informací získaných pomocí metod participačního pozorování, polostrukturovaných rozhovorů a analýzy výsledků činnosti bylo zpracováno pět případových studií konkrétních dětí vyrůstajících v bilingvním prostředí mimo Českou republiku.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with the specifics of communication skills of bilingual children. The theoretical part of the work explains the concepts related to communication, speech, and language. Furthermore, it describes the language levels in speech ontogenesis. It deals with factors that affect the overall speech development of the individual. Then the work focuses on bilingualism and its various definitions. Also, it clarifies the individual subdivisions and types of bilingualism. The conclusion of the theoretical part of the work deals with the specifics of speech of bilingual children. The empirical part analyses using a qualitative survey of the specifics of communication of bilingual children. Based on information obtained with participative observation methods, semi-structured interviews, and analysis of the activities' results, five case studies of specific children growing up in a bilingual environment outside the Czech Republic were composed.
