Mercury associated with particulate matter

Abstract:

Tato práce se zabývá analýzou materiálu polétavých prachů s důrazem na obsah a zastoupení asociovaných sloučenin rtuti. Vzorky prachů pocházejí z dopravou zatížených míst v Praze. Byly sbírány během tří let a jsou fyzikálně separovány do čtyř velikostních kategorií. Hlavní použitou metodou pro analýzu obsažené rtuti je sekvenční extrakce, doplněná termickou desorpcí. Vzorky obsahovaly spektrum forem rtuti a byly pozorovány také různé trendy jejich zastoupení v částicích různých velikostních frakcí. Samotný materiál prachu byl charakterizován silikátovým rozborem, stanovením obsahu uhlíku a elektronovou mikroskopií.

Abstract:

This work is focused on the analysis of the suspended particulate matter, with an emphasis on the content and distribution of associated mercury compounds. Dust samples originate from places highly affected by traffic in the city of Prague. The samples were collected over three years and then physically separated into four size fractions. The main method used for the analysis of contained mercury is sequential extraction, additionaly supported by thermal desorption. The contained mercury was distributed between a wide spectrum of forms and various trends of their distribution among the different size classes were observed. The material of particulate matter was characterized by the elemental analysis of samples and electron microscopy.
