Specific issues on drama translation through the analysis of some translations of the play "La Màquina de parlar"

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce pojednává o problematice překladu dramatických textů. V teoretické částí se zabývá vysvětlením základních konceptů a úskalí překladu dramatu, dále pak i konkrétními problémy, se kterými se překladatelé tohoto druhu textů potýkají, přičemž konfrontuje vícero odborných pohledů na problematiku. V praktické části se práce věnuje představení a analýze divadelní hry La màquina de parlar od současné argentinsko-katalánské autorky Victorie Szpunberg. Jádro analytické části tvoří deskripce překladatelských strategií pěti vybraných překladů dané hry - do češtiny, polštiny, angličtiny, francouzštiny a italštiny - a jejich komparace nejen z hlediska obecného, ale také z hlediska konkrétních řešení dílčích problémů.

Abstract:

Bachelor thesis deals with problems of translation of dramatic texts. In the theoretical part, the basic concepts and pitfalls of the translation of the drama are explained, as well as the specific problems encountered by translators of this type of text, confronting several expert perspectives on the issue. In the practical part, the work is devoted to the presentation and analysis of the play La màquina de parlar by the current Argentinian-Catalan author Victorie Szpunberg. The core of the analytical part consists of a description of the translation strategies of five selected translations of the given play - Czech, Polish, English, French and Italian - and their comparisons not only from a general point of view, but also from the point of view of specific solutions to partial problems.
