Abstract:

Diplomová práce se věnuje překladu titulků ke komediálnímu vystoupení Hannah Gadsbyové, Nanette. Věnuje se omezením a konvencím, které s sebou titulky nesou, a pokouší se identifikovat a rozebrat titulkované strategie, které byly při překladu použity. Dále má práce za cíl diskutovat kvalitu titulků s ohledem na funkční ekvivalenci, přijatelnost a čtivost titulků.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the translation of subtitles of Hannah Gadsby’s stand-up comedy performance called Nanette. It focuses on various constraints and conventions of subtitling and it attempts to identify and analyse the subtitling strategies employed during the translation process. Furthermore, it aims to discuss the qualitative aspects of the subtitles with regard to functional equivalence, acceptability and readability.
