Biogeography of rare species of the Czech malacofauna

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá studiem vzácných druhů české malakofauny, přičemž hlavní pozornost je věnována druhu Petasina edentula (Draparnaud, 1805), jeho aktuálnímu rozšíření podél potoka Debrník na Šumavě a jeho potenciálnímu výskytu v oblasti Železné Rudy. V teoretické části byly charakterizovány vzácné druhy suchozemských plžů České republiky, jejich ekologické nároky a rozšíření. Praktická část práce se opírá o malakologický průzkum podél potoků Debrník, Řezná a Svarožná, jenž byl proveden ručním sběrem jedinců a odběrem hrabanky. Výsledkem práce bylo potvrzení výskytu druhu P. edentula na dvou lokalitách podél potoka Debrník, z nichž na jedné lokalitě nebyly v minulosti nálezy známy. Dále byla charakterizována společenstva, ve kterých se populace nacházela. Druh nebyl nalezen na žádné lokalitě mimo Debrník a není pravděpodobné, že by se podél Řezné a Svarožné v budoucnu vyskytoval, neboť zde není potřebná skladba bylinného patra a padlého dřeva, jež jsou pro výskyt druhu P. edentula zásadní.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with rare species of the Czech malacofauna and the main attention is paid to Petasina edentula (Draparnaud, 1805); its actual distribution along Debrník stream in the Šumava Mts. and potential occurrence in the surroundings of Železná Ruda. In the theoretical part of the thesis, rare species of terrestrial slugs of the Czech Republic, their ecological requirements and distribution were documented. Practical part lies upon malacological survey along Debrník, Řezná and Svarožná streams, which was conducted with a manual collection of living specimens and upper soil layer samples including leaf litter. Results confirm the distribution of P. edentula at two locations along Debrník stream, including one location where this species was not recorded in the past. Furthermore, landsnail communities, where the population was found, were characterized. Species was not found at any other location except for Debrník and it is unlikely that it will appear along Řezná and Svarožná in the future, because of unsuitable herb layer composition and absence of dead wood, which is essential for surviving of P. edentula.
