Actual trends in use of coronary artery stents

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá současnými trendy ve využití koronárních stentů. V první kapitole jsou vysvětleny základní pojmy, které budou figurovat napříč celou prací a popsány příčiny a důsledky kardiovaskulárních onemocnění. Jednou z možností léčby zúžené, nebo neprůchodné koronární cévy je implantace koronárního stentu, která se stala doplňkem perkutánní koronární angioplastiky. V další části jsou shrnuty jednotlivé druhy těchto stentů podle druhu materiálů použitých na jejich výrobu. Jsou zde také shrnuty jednotlivé výhody a nevýhody použití jednotlivých typů stentů u pacientů s kardiovaskulárním onemocněním. Poslední část je zaměřená na zdravotní komplikace spojené s implantací. Dále na materiály a druhy stentů, které by mohly mít vysoký potenciál při efektivní léčbě kardiovaskulárních onemocněních a jsou prozatím ve fázi výzkumu a vývoje. Podle současných poznatků se zdá být perspektivní stent s povlakem polymerní kyseliny lipoové s  léčivou látkou sirolimus a to především i pro použití u pacientů s diabetem.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis deals with actual trends in use of coronary artery stents. The first chapter explains not only basic terms that will be presented through the whole thesis but also the causes and consequences of cardiovascular diseases. The implantation of the coronary stent, which has become a complement to percutaneous coronary angioplasty, is one of the treatment possibilities for narrow or impassable artery. The second chapter summarizes individual types of aforesaid stents according to the type of materials used for their production. Furthermore, it contains advantages and disadvantages of using individual types of stents in patients with cardiovascular disease. The last chapter is focused on the medical complications associated with implantation of the stents. Moreover, it occupies with materials and types of stents that could have high potential for effective treatment of cardiovascular diseases and that are currently undergoing research and development. By current knowledge seems to be perspective stent with coat of polymers of lipoic acid with active substance sirolimus primary for patient with diabetes.
