Spisovatel a žurnalista Josef Merhaut patřil na přelomu 19. a 20. století k hlavním představitelům literatury na Moravě. Významná byla jak jeho literární, tak žurnalistická činnost. The writer and journalist Josef Merhaut belonged to the late 19th and early 20th century to the main representatives of literature in Moravia. Significant was both his literary and journalistic activities. His expertise in criticisms, mainly from the theatrical world, was a great contribution to the development of the National Theatre in Brno.
