Crisis Management of the CineStar Multiplex Cinema during the COVID-19 Pandemic

Abstract:

Tato diplomová práce se zabývá krizovým managementem multikina CineStar v době pandemie covid-19. Hlavním cílem práce je prozkoumat strategii krizového řízení managementu multikina CineStar v době pandemie covid-19 s důrazem na personální management a interpretovat dílčí kroky personálního managementu, jimiž společnost reagovala na krizovou situaci způsobenou právě pandemií. Teoretická část vymezuje zejména pojmy krizový management a personální management. V závěru této části je stručně představena situace spojená s pandemií covid-19 v České republice a její dopad na provozovatele kin. Praktickou část tvoří kvalitativní výzkum ve formě hloubkových rozhovorů s vedením a pracovníky CineStar. Práce došla k závěru, že přestože při řešení nenadálé krizové situace podnik jednal intuitivně, byl i tak schopný reagovat rychle na změnu a přijmout patřičná opatření pro přečkání krize. V případě personálního managementu firmy lze konstatovat, že vlastní manažerský styl a přístup personálního managementu CineStar v mnohém koreluje s teoretickými postupy. V závěru práce jsou formulována doporučení ohledně konkrétních změn, které by firma mohla implementovat do praktického chodu organizace.

Abstract:

This Master’s Thesis deals with the crisis management of the CineStar multiplex during the covid-19 pandemic. The main objective of the thesis is to examine the crisis management strategy of the CineStar multiplex during the covid-19 pandemic with an emphasis on personnel management and to interpret the partial steps of personnel management by which the company responded to the crisis situation caused by the pandemic. The theoretical part defines in particular the concepts of crisis management and personnel management. In the conclusion of this part, the situation related to the pandemic covid-19 in the Czech Republic and its impact on cinema operators is briefly presented. The practical part consists of qualitative research in the form of in-depth interviews with CineStar management and staff. The thesis concludes that although the company acted intuitively in dealing with the sudden crisis situation, it was still able to react quickly to the change and take appropriate measures to weather the crisis. In the case of the firm's HR management, it can be concluded that the actual management style and approach of CineStar's HR management correlates in many ways with theoretical practices. The thesis concludes with recommendations for specific changes that the firm could implement in the practical running of the organisation.
