California as a Trend-Setter
Abstract:
The aim of the thesis is to examine how California influences cultural and social trends in the United States as well as in the world. The distinctiveness of California is focused on five fields of study such as history, culture, politics, education and research and high technology. These areas are described and analyzed in order to prove a hypothesis about California as a trend-setter.

Cílem této diplomové práce je vysledovat, jakým způsobem Kalifornie ovlivňuje kulturní a společenské trendy jak ve Spojených Státech Amerických, tak v celosvětovém měřítku. Svébytnost Kalifornie je sledována v pěti různých odvětvích ? historie, kultura, politika, vzdělávání a výzkum a nové technologie.
