Relation between Temperament Dimension Harm Avoidance and Curiosity and Courage in the Context of Positive Psychology

Anotácia:

Cílem studie je zjistit míru korelace mezi subjektivní hladinou depresivity a charakterovými přednostmi zvídavost a ctností odvaha, především s vytrvalostí a statečností, a dozvědět se, zda tyto konstrukty společně kolísají. Výzkum proběhl s 97 respondenty testovanými TCI-r (Temperament and Character Inventory), CEI-II (Curiosity and Exploration Inventory) a Grit Scale. V teoretické části studie jsme seznamováni se zastřešující oblastí pozitivní psychologie, především s tím, jak tato disciplína vnímá charakter a jeho přednosti, a jak se vztahuje k dnešní klinické psychologii. Dále tato část obsahuje detailnější popis vybraných předností odvahy a zvídavosti, temperamentu z pohledu Cloningerovy psychobiologické teorie a jeho subdimenze Harm Avoidance. Empirická část je věnována metodice a metodám studie, analýze a interpretaci získaných dat.

Abstract:

The aim of the study is to analyze the rate of the correlation between subjective level of depressiveness and character strength Curiosity and virtue Courage (first and foremost character strengths Bravery and Persistence) and ascertain if those constructs covariate together. The research has been carried out on a sample of 97 respondents tested in TCI-r (Temperament and Character Inventory), CEI-II (Curiosity and Exploration Inventory) and in Grit Scale. In theoretical part, we are acquainted with Positive psychology as the covering discipline, then how positive psychology looks at character and it´s strengths, and the relation between positive and clinical psychology is described. Another part is dedicated to detailed description of named character strengths of Courage and strength Curiosity, to Cloninger´s psychobiological theory of temperament and to it´s dimension – Harm Avoidance. The empirical part is dedicated to procedure and methodology of the study and to analysis and interpretation of collected data.
