Abstract:

This bachelor's thesis aims to explain the reasons for gender inequality in workplaces across the United States of America. I conduct research on both online academic articles and books on the gender gap in the workplace, how the pay gap is still being addressed, and how it continues to widen in today's society. The purpose of the thesis is to evaluate the factors why women are paid less than their male counterparts in the same or similar jobs, and the reasons why women hardly occupy high-level positions. I will focus on topics of microaggressions not only towards gender inequality but also racial or ethnic inequality. The analyses indicate that one contributing factor to the gender pay gap is the burden of childcare, which hampers the professional lives of parents, mostly women. This is where the concept of the motherhood/fatherhood penalty has arisen. The chapters will be divided according to issues that exacerbate the problem of equal remuneration of the sexes for the same work. Abstract:

Cílem této bakalářské práce je vysvětlit důvody genderové nerovnosti na pracovištích ve Spojených státech amerických. Provádím výzkum akademických online článků i knih o genderových rozdílech na pracovištích a o tom, jak se stále řeší a prohlubují rozdíly v odměňování v dnešní společnosti. Cílem práce je zhodnotit faktory, proč jsou ženy na stejných nebo obdobných pracovních místech placeny méně než jejich mužské protějšky, a důvody, proč ženy téměř neobsazují vysoké pozice. Pozornost budu věnovat tématům mikroagrese nejen vůči genderové nerovnosti, ale také rasové či etnické nerovnosti. Z analýz vyplývá, že jedním z faktorů, které přispívají k rozdílům v odměňování žen a mužů, je zátěž spojená s péčí o děti, která ztěžuje profesní život rodičů, většinou žen. Právě zde vznikl koncept trestu za mateřství/otcovství. Kapitoly budou rozděleny podle problémů, které komplikují rovné odměňování obou pohlaví za stejnou práci.
