Choreographic Creation and Artistic Principles of Sasha Waltz

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá tvorbou současné německé choreografky Sashy Waltz, jež svým vizionářským přístupem a hledáním vlastních uměleckých struktur přesahuje hranice tance a pohybového divadla a vytváří komplexní multižánrová díla jako dialog různých forem a specifického prostoru, v němž dílo vzniká. Práce zachycuje činnost tanečního souboru Sasha Waltz & Guests, jež v současné době patří k nejvýraznějším ansámblům v oblasti tance, pohybového divadla a vizuálního umění. Dále si všímá inovativního tvůrčího vlivu působícího na široké spektrum uměleckých oborů – od inscenování oper (choreografická opera) po alternativní performance, tzv. fokusované prohlídky. Práce rozebírá některé aspekty charakteristické pro tvorbu Sashy Waltz – zejména její osobitý choreografický rukopis a práci s prostorem jako prvotním inspiračním zdrojem.

Abstract:

This bachelor thesis deals with the creation of contemporary German choreographer Sasha Waltz, whose visionary approach and the search for her own artistic structures goes beyond the boundaries of dance and physical theater and creates complex multi-genre works as a dialogue of different forms and specific space in which the work arises. The thesis captures the work of the Sasha Waltz & Guests ensemble, which is currently one of the most prominent ensembles in a field of dance, physical theater and visual arts. Furthermore, the thesis is focused on the innovative creative influence on a wide range of artistic disciplines – from choreographic opera to alternative performances, so-called focused exhibition. The bachelor thesis discusses some of the characteristic aspects of the Sasha Waltz´s creation – especially her own choreographic vocabulary and work with the space as a primary source of the inspiration.
