V současné době jsou známy tři SMC (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes) komplexy, které se podílejí na organizaci chromatinu a na procesech spojených s jeho dynamikou. There are three SMC (Structural Maintenance of Chromosomes) complexes known yet which are involved in the organization of chromatin and processes associated with its dynamics. They are the following: cohesin, condensin and SMC5-6 complex. The major function of the last named SMC5-6 complex has not been revealed yet.
