Toward Professional Theatre Education in Brno

Abstract:

Předkládaná magisterská diplomová práce se zabývá tématem ustavování profesionálního vysokého divadelního školství v Brně. Hlavním cílem práce je porozumět jak a z jakých důvodů se stalo, že na konci 40. let 20. století v Brně vznikla vysoká divadelní škola. Úvodní bádání v archivních materiálech a příprava podkladů k psaní práce odhalily nutnost upravit a doplnit směr bádání ve dvou směrech. Zaprvé, klíčovou znalost pro zhodnocení vzniku JAMU v Brně představuje kontext založení brněnské konzervatoře se zájmem o dramatické oddělení a její činnost mezi světovými válkami, během druhé světové války a bezprostředně po ní. Zadruhé, podstatné je hledat souvislosti s paralelně vznikající institucí shodného typu v Praze. Z těchto důvodů se text diplomové práce skládá ze tří částí. Každá z částí nazírá zvolené téma z jiné perspektivy.

Abstract:

This master thesis informs the reader about the beginnings of professional theatre education in Brno. The main goal of the thesis is to understand the purposes and circumstances of the establishment of the establishment of the Theatre department of The Janáček Academy of Music and Performing Arts in Brno in the late 1940s. In the course of the primary research work, it appeared that two more perspectives have to be added: Firstly, the assessment of the roots and position of the Brno Conservatory with special emphasis on the performance of its dramatic department between the world wars, during the Second World War and after. Secondly, the relation of the Janáček Academy in Brno and a similar institution in the capital, the Academy of Performing Arts in Prague, need to be taken into consideration. For these reasons, the thesis is divided into three parts, each of them discussing the main issue from a different viewpoint.
