Politics of place names creation
Abstract:
Práce se zabývá pojmenováním míst. Zkoumá moc, která stojí v pozadí aktu pojmenování, mocenské dopady volby místních jmen a strategie obrany proti těmto dopadům. Teoretický přístup vychází z myšlenek poststrukturalistů, především pak Foucaulta. Analyzované případy jsou vybírány zejména z prostředí evropských kolonií.
Abstract:
This thesis is concerned with naming of places. It inquires into the power which supports the act of naming from the background, influence of power made by place name choices and strategies of defence againts this influence. Theoretic concept comes out of poststructuralist cogitations, mainly those of Foucault. Analysed cases are primarily chosen out of European colonies.
