Primární infekce/reaktivace cytomegaloviru (CMV) způsobují závažné komplikace nebo ohrožují na životě jedince s oslabenou imunitou, hlavně novorozence a pacienty podstupující transplantace orgánů nebo kmenových buněk. γδ T lymfocyty (zejména Vδ2-) vykazují cytotoxickou aktivitu vůči buňkám infikovaných CMV a v průběhu CMV reaktivace byly u pacientů pozorovány expanze Vδ2- T buněk. Primary infection/reactivation of cytomegalovirus (CMV) is the cause of serious and life-threatening complications in individuals with compromised imunity, especially in newborns and patients undergoing solid organ or stem cells transplantation.
