Abstract:

Tato práce se zaměřuje na environmentální diplomacii nastupujících velmocí. Environmentální diplomacie se zabývá otázkami a aktivitami souvisejícími s environmentální bezpečností a zahrnuje širokou škálu proměnných a vlivů. Význam environmentální diplomacie výrazně vzrostl zejména v posledních desetiletích, a to nejen v oblasti mezinárodních vztahů. Vzhledem k šíři pojmu environmentální diplomacie se v této práci zaměřím především na environmentální diplomacii v oblasti změny klimatu. Termínem nastupující mocnosti se označují země zařazené do globálního jihu, které se staly mnohem asertivnějšími ve snaze zvýšit svou mezinárodní prestiž s koncem bipolárního rozdělení světa. Tato práce se zaměřuje na Čínskou lidovou republiku a Indickou republiku. Obě země prošly za posledních 30 let výraznou proměnou svého přístupu k environmentálním problémům, které vzhledem ke svým současným politickým, veřejným, technologickým a finančním možnostem aktivně řeší. Tato práce se skládá ze dvou částí, teoretické a praktické. První část obsahuje vysvětlení klíčových teoretických pojmů práce. Tato část se nejprve věnuje environmentální problematice v mezinárodních vztazích, která slouží jako určitý vhled a úvod do zkoumané problematiky. Druhá kapitola se zaměřuje na diplomacii a poslední teoretická kapitola se věnuje konceptu měkké moci, jak jej definoval Joseph Nye. Praktická část obsahuje dvě případové studie. První se zaměřuje na environmentální diplomacii Čínské lidové republiky, konkrétně na její vývoj ve sledovaném období, na domácí a zahraniční faktory, které tento vývoj ovlivnily, a na vztah mezi čínskou environmentální diplomacií a měkkou mocí. Ve druhé případové studii je stejným způsobem zkoumána environmentální diplomacie Indické republiky. V závěru práce jsou představeny výsledky výzkumu a vysvětlena významná zjištění týkající se environmentální diplomacie zkoumaných zemí.

Abstract:

As the title suggests, this thesis focuses on the environmental diplomacy of the emerging powers. Environmental diplomacy deals with issues and activities related to environmental security and encompasses a wide range of variables and influences. The importance of environmental diplomacy has increased substantially, especially in recent decades, and not only in the field of international relations. Given the broadness of the concept of environmental diplomacy, this paper focuses primarily on environmental diplomacy in the area of climate change. The term emerging powers refers to countries classified in the global south that have begun to emerge with the end of the bipolar division of the world, compared to the previous period, they have become much more assertive in their efforts to increase their international prestige. This paper focuses on the People's Republic of China and the Republic of India. Both countries have undergone a significant transformation in the last 30 years in their approach to environmental problems, which they are addressing proactively given their current political, public, technological and financial capabilities. This thesis consists of two parts, theoretical and practical. The first part contains an explanation of the key theoretical concepts of the thesis. This part first discusses environmental issues in international relations, which serves as a kind of insight and introduction to the issues under study. The second chapter focuses on diplomacy and the last theoretical chapter is devoted to the concept of soft power as defined by Joseph Nye. The practical part contains two case studies. The first focuses on the environmental diplomacy of the People's Republic of China, specifically its development during the period under review, the domestic and foreign factors that influenced this development, and the relationship between Chinese environmental diplomacy and soft power. The second case study examines the environmental diplomacy of the Republic of India in the same way. The thesis concludes by presenting the research findings and explaining the significant findings regarding the environmental diplomacy of the countries studied.
