"For emperor and land." Dynastic and land patriotism in moravian nobility in second half of 19. century.

Abstract:

Disertační práce se zabývá projevy dynastického a zemského patriotismu u moravské šlechty druhé poloviny 19. století. Práce je rozdělena do tří hlavních oddílů. První oddíl se věnuje struktuře šlechtické společnosti habsburské monarchie, tedy první a druhé společnosti a je doplněn textem o šlechtických sňatcích. Dále se věnuje jednotlivým aspektům postavení šlechty po revolučním roce 1848. Dva následující oddíly jsou pak jádrem celé práce. První z nich se zabývá dynastickým patriotismem moravské šlechty. Začíná tedy pojednáním o šlechtické titulatuře a šlechtických řádech, navazuje pak textem o dvorské společnosti, která tvořila nejbližší okolí císaře. Pojednává tedy o držbě nejvyšších dvorských hodností a řádů, které zvyšovaly prestiž jejich nositelů. Dále pokračuje vzájemným vztahem císaře a moravské šlechty, dokumentovaným na konkrétních příkladech. Celá kapitola je pak zakončena tématem služby šlechty ve státní službě a především v habsburské armádě, což patřilo k nepsané povinnosti každého šlechtice. Další oddíl se pak zabývá zemským patriotismem moravské šlechty. První kapitola pojednává o významné úloze šlechtického sídla, včetně jeho neopominutelného symbolického významu. Dále text pokračuje výstavbou šlechtických hrobek, budovaných zpravidla v místech rodinné paměti a tato kapitola je doplněna exkurzem o pohřebním ritu u moravské šlechty druhé poloviny 19. století. Následující kapitola pak mapuje působení šlechty na půdě významných zemských spolků a veřejných institucí, ze kterých mohla šlechta aktivně ovlivňovat osudy celé korunní země. Podobné tomu je v případě poslední kapitoly, která pojednává o politické činnosti moravské šlechty na půdě moravského zemského sněmu, kde šlechta také významně působila na vývoj Moravy druhé poloviny 19. století a počátku 20. století.

Abstract:

The main topic of this dissertation is the demonstration of dynastic and land patriotism of the moravian nobility in the second half of the 19. century. The whole dissertation is divided into tree main parts. The first one deals with the structure of nobility of the Habsburg empire, about the first a second society, in addition also about the noble marriages. Further focuses this work on the particular aspects of the social position of the nobility after the revolution year 1848. The next two parts are the corn of the whole work. The first of them deals with the topic of the dynastic patriotism of the moravian nobility. This part starts with the structure of noble titles and court orders, the text continues with topic of court society, which created the closest surroundings of the emperor. On the concrete examples focus the text on the relation between the moravian nobility and the emperor. In the end of this part is discussed the civil service and service in the Habsburg army among the moravian nobility, which belongs to the life of the most nobleman. The next part discussed the land patriotism of the moravian nobility. First of all is discribed the theme of the noble residence, included also its strong symbolic meaning. Further continues the article about the construction of noble tombs, situated in some place of family tradition. To this part is added article about the death of the moravian nobleman in the second half of the 19. century. The text continues with the activities of the moravian nobility in famous societies and other official instituties. The last article of this work focus on the politician activities of moravian noblemen in association with the moravian provincial assembly. Also from here could the moravian nobility influence the progress of Moravia in the second half of the 19. centry and at the beginning of the 20. century.
