Factors of university students engagement with school

Abstract:

Cílem práce bylo zjistit vztah určitých faktorů na angažovanost studentů vysokých škol ve studiu. Těmito faktory byly 2 osobnostní charakteristiky; extraverze a potřeba sounáležitosti a 1 faktor prostředí; vnímaná interakční spravedlnost ze strany učitelů. Na základě teorie Job (Student) demands-resources modelu a před-chozích výzkumů bylo specifikováno, že by tyto faktory měly mít pozitivní vztah vůči angažovanosti a fun-govat tedy jako zdroje. Prostor byl také věnován možné interakci vnitřních faktorů s vnějším faktorem ve vztahu k angažovanosti. Sběr dat byl prováděn online metodou, přičemž výsledný vzorek činil 1109 (173 mužů, 936 žen) studentů českých vysokých škol (M= 21,9 let, SD= 3,1). V rámci hierarchické lineární regrese byl předpoklad pozitivního vztahu s angažovaností potvrzen u extraverze (β= 0,29, p<0,01) a vnímané inter-akční spravedlnosti (β= 0,39, p<0,01). U potřeby sounáležitosti tento vztah potvrzen nebyl (β= -0,11, p<0,01). Signifikantní interakce mezi faktory rovněž objevena nebyla. Implikace a limity zjištění jsou probírány v diskuzi.

Abstract:

Aim of this study was to explore possible relationships between certain factors and university students en-gagement. 2 factor were personal traits; extraversion and need to belong. 1 factor was linked to student envi-ronment; interactional justice. On the basis of Job (Student) demand-resources model and previous research was specified, that relationships between those factors and engagement will be positive. Therefore, they will serve as resources. Study also explored possible interaction between personal characteristics and interactio-nal justice towards engagement. Data were collected using online method. Sample consisted of 1109 (173 males, 936 females) czech univesties students (M= 21,9 age, SD= 3,1). Hiearchical linear regression confirmed positive relationship of extraversion (β= 0,29, p<0,01) and interactional justice (β= 0,29, p<0,01) towards en-gagement. There was negative relationship between need to belong and engagement (β= 0,29, p<0,01). The interaction between factors towards engagement was not significant. Implications and limits of this study are discussed.
