Mardi Gras, its preservation as a folk tradition and its ongoing transformation in the Sedlčany region

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce (BP) se bude věnovat tématu masopustů. Účelem této BP je zmapování slavnosti masopustu na území Sedlčanska. BP se bude snažit zjistit, v jakém rozsahu je tradice zachována ve městě Sedlčany. Teoretická část BP se pokusí zmapovat historii masopustů na našem území a dále se bude věnovat stručnému shrnutí masopustu jako kulturní tradice. Teorie je opřena o odbornou literaturu a strategické dokumenty podporující tradiční lidovou kulturu. Hlavní pozornost bude dále zaměřena na masopust v Milevsku a jeho tradiční maškary. Praktická část BP bude založena na kvantitativním výzkumu pomocí dotazníkového šetření, realizovaném na Sedlčansku ve třech institucích – ZUŠ Sedlčany, 1. ZŠ Sedlčany a 2. ZŠ Propojení. Hlavní výzkum bude podpořen strukturovanými rozhovory s organizátory masopustu ve městě Sedlčany. V rozhovoru budou kladeny otázky týkající se především financování a rozpočtu jednotlivých akcí, dále zapojení místních institucí a jejich spolupráce. Sebraná data by měla prokázat, jak velké povědomí mají jednotlivé věkové kategorie o masopustech, jak se tradice uchovávají a jaký segment obyvatel se podílí na pořádání. Praktická část bude také obsahovat ekonomické údaje a jejich vzájemné porovnání.

Abstract:

The bachelor thesis (BT) will focus on the theme of carnivals. The purpose of this BT is to map the Mardi Gras celebration in the Sedlčany region. The BT will try to find out to what extent the tradition is preserved in the town of Sedlčany. The theoretical part of the BT will attempt to map the history of Mardi Gras in our territory and will also deal with a brief summary of Mardi Gras as a cultural tradition. The theory is based on professional literature and strategic documents supporting traditional folk culture. The main focus will be on the carnival in Milevsko and its traditional masquerades. The practical part of the BT will be based on quantitative research by means of a questionnaire survey, carried out in Sedlčany region in three institutions - ZUŠ Sedlčany, 1. ZŠ Sedlčany and 2. ZŠ Propojení. The main research will be supported by structured interviews with the organisers of the carnival in Sedlčany. The interview questions will mainly concern the financing and budget of the individual events, as well as the involvement of local institutions and their cooperation. The data collected should show how much awareness the different age groups have of carnivals, how the traditions are preserved and which segment of the population is involved in the organisation. The practical part will also include economic data and their comparison with each other.
