Effectivness of tooth brushing in patients with fixed orthodontic appliances

Abstract:

Tato bakalářská práce vymezuje základní pojmy týkající se motivace lidské činnosti. Teoretické poznatky motivů jsou snadno využitelné v praktické části motivace pacientů. Druhou významnou částí, které se věnuje bakalářská práce, je komunikace. Cílem bylo uvést základní typy komunikace a dále se věnovat tomuto rozdělení. Nejvýznamnější částí pro praxi je komunikace s pacientem. Specificky je popsána komunikace s pacienty mladšího věku, dále s pacienty se speciálními potřebami a nakonec s pacienty s různým charakterem. Cílem kapitoly “Systematické vedení pacienta v dentální hygieně” je určit, za jakých okolností bude čištění zubů s fixním ortodontickým aparátem efektivní. Proto se tato kapitola věnuje především motivaci pacienta, charakteru motivátora, motivačním pomůckám, instruktáži a funkčnímu hygienickému protokolu. Všechny tyto poznatky jsou využity pro část praktickou. Praktická část má několik cílů. Hlavním cílem je popsat úroveň ústní hygieny pacientů, kteří jsou odesíláni na ortodontické pracoviště a především optimalizovat úroveň jejich ústní hygieny před nasazením fixního ortodontického aparátu a během léčby. Cílem průzkumu je zhodnotit, jak motivovaný a instruovaný pacient pečuje subjektivně a objektivně o svůj chrup. Dalším cílem je určit, které námi doporučené pomůcky pro pacienta s fixním ortodontickým aparátem budou nejefektivnější a nejkomfortnější.

Abstract:

This thesis defines the basic concepts regarding the motivation of human activity. The theoretical data of motives are easily applied in the practical part during the motivation of the patients. The second important part of the thesis is dedicated to the matter of communication. The aim of this section is to state the basic types of communication and furthermore work with those definitions. The most significant part of the practise is the communication with the patient. There are specifically described the communication with the patients of younger age, next with the patients of special needs and finally there is a part dedicated to the patients with various personalities. The aim of the chapter “Systematic management of the patient in the dental hygiene” is to determine, in what circumstances will be brushing the teeth effective for a person with fixed orthodontic appliance. Therefore the chapter is dedicated primarily to the motivation of the patient, to the character of the motivator, to the tools of the motivation, to the instruction and functional dental hygiene resume. All those conclusions are used for the practical part of the thesis. The practical part sets several goals. The primary goal is to depict the level of dental hygiene of the patients that were sent to the orthodontic dental centre and above all to optimize the level of their dental hygiene before attaching fixed orthodontic appliance as well as during the orthodontic treatment. The aim of the research is to evaluate the way the motivated and instructed patient takes care of his/her set of teeth both subjectively and objectively. Another aim is to determine which by us recommended dental tools for the patient with fixed orthodontic appliance, will be the most effective and the most comfortable.
