Motivation of teachers of the selected primary school

Abstract:

Obecným cílem této práce je zmapování situace v oblasti motivace pedagogů na vybrané základní škole a srovnání této konkrétní reálné praxe s teoretickými východisky. Zaměřujeme se na to, zda a v jaké míře škola využívá dostupné prostředky v oblasti motivace práce a jakým způsobem tyto prostředky modifikuje pro své reálné fungování. Cílem teoretické části je zmapování základních teorií v oblasti motivace práce a analýza možných způsobů a prostředků motivace, jak je popisují a analyzují jednotliví autoři v dostupné literatuře. Dále se pak v teoretické části zaměřujeme na specifičnost této problematiky v pedagogickém prostředí. Zaměřujeme se na vymezení a rozlišení základních pojmů: motivace, stimulace a motivace v pracovním prostředí. Podrobně jsou vysvětleny teorie motivace v pracovním prostředí, specifika motivace v učitelské profesi a motivační typy, tedy rozdělení pracovníků do určitých skupin dle jejich přístupu k motivaci. Dále je v práci podrobněji pojednáno o prvcích v pracovní motivaci, jako je firemní kultura, manažerské styly, hodnocení a odměňování pracovníků. Pozornost je věnována dopadům těchto oblastí na motivaci a možnostem vedoucích pracovníků tyto oblasti ovlivnit. Využitými metodami pro zpracování teoretické části je studium odborné literatury, její analýza, srovnání a následná syntéza. Hlavním cílem praktické části je zmapování reálné situace v oblasti motivace na konkrétní základní škole. Vybrána byla škola, na které jsme očekávali vyšší míru zapojení do motivace pedagogů ze strany vedení školy a toto očekávání se beze sporu naplnilo. Práce tak mapuje prostředky používané vedením školy k motivaci pedagogů a názory pedagogů na tyto motivační prostředky a jejich využití. Dalším cílem je identifikace motivačních typů a úsudek, jak pedagogy dle jejich motivačního typu vést a motivovat. Použit je kvalitativní přístup, nástrojem pro sběr dat je polostrukturovaný rozhovor, který byl uskutečněn s vedením školy a vybranými pedagogy.

Abstract:

The general aim of this thesis is to map the situation in the field of teacher motivation in a selected primary school and to compare this concrete real practice with theoretical assumptions. We focus on whether and to what extent the school uses the available resources in the field of work motivation and how it modifies these resources for its real functioning. The aim of the theoretical part is to map the basic theories in the field of work motivation and to analyse the possible ways and means of motivation as described and analysed by different authors in the available literature. The theoretical part then focuses on the specificity of this issue in the pedagogical environment. We focus on the definition and differentiation of the basic concepts: motivation, stimulation and motivation in the work environment. The theories of motivation in the working environment, the specifics of motivation in the teaching profession and motivational types, i.e. the division of workers into certain groups according to their approach to motivation, are explained in detail. In addition, elements in work motivation such as corporate culture, managerial styles, evaluation and rewarding of workers are discussed in detail. Attention is given to the impact of these areas on motivation and the ability of managers to influence these areas. The methods used to develop the theoretical part are the study of literature, its analysis, comparison and subsequent synthesis. The main objective of the practical part is to map the real situation in the field of motivation in a particular primary school. We selected a school in which we expected a higher level of involvement in teacher motivation on the part of the school management and this expectation was fulfilled without any doubt. The paper thus maps the means used by the school management to motivate teachers and the teachers' views on these motivational means and their use. Another objective is to identify the motivational types and to make judgments on how to guide and motivate educators according to their motivational type. A qualitative approach is used, the instrument for data collection is a semi-structured interview which was conducted with the school management and selected teachers.
