Loyalty programs in the hospitality industry

Abstract:

The topic of this thesis is The Loyalty programs in the hotels. A motive for an investigating this area is based on an article I have read and which was dedicated to this issue. The aim of this paper is analysis and comparison of the loyalty programs in the hotels in Slovakia. In the first part I deal with the theoretical knowledge about development of hospitality industry. Further, I discuss marketing, marketing tools, services and loyalty programs, which are the main topic of this work. The second part of the thesis describes analysis of selected hotel facilities that offer the loyalty programs to its guests. I compared the hotel facilities and the loyalty programs with one another. I also was interested in the owner’s opinion of Hotel Flora** about the loyalty programs in the hotels; since I have decided to create the loyalty program for it in the last section of this paper. The analysis includes a questionnaire for the hotel guests. Based on the analysis I have found out that there are only a few hotels in Slovak republic using some loyalty programs. However only a small percentage of the hotels that offer the loyalty programs pay attention to the proper advertisement among the customers. For the guests it is difficult to find it on the hotel’s website. The websites do not offer sufficient information. In the final part, according to the gained information I suggested using the loyalty program for the Hotel Flora**, which is situated in the well-known touristic region Liptov. The program is divided into 5 levels. The level of a placement depends on how many times the guest was accommodated in the Hotel Flora**. The hotel expects increasing of the occupancy from this loyalty program.

Abstract:

Témou mojej bakalárskej práce sú Vernostné programy v hotelierstve. Danú problematiku som sa rozhodla skúmať po prečítaní jedného článku, ktorý sa venoval danej téme. Cieľom práce je analýza a porovnanie vernostných programov v ubytovacích zariadeniach na Slovensku. V prvej časti práce sa zaoberám teoretickými poznatkami, konkrétne vývojom hotelierstva. Tiež sa zameriavam na hotel ako taký. Ďalej rozoberám pojmy ako marketing, marketingové nástroje, služby a vernostné programy, ktoré sú hlavnou témou práce. Druhú časť práce tvorí samotná analýza vybraných hotelových zariadení, ktoré ponúkajú svojim hosťom vernostný program. Ubytovacie zariadenia a vernostné programy porovnávam medzi sebou. Tiež ma zaujíma názor na vernostné programy od majiteľky hotela Flóra**, ktorý som si vybrala na vytvorenie vernostného programu v poslednej časti. Analýza zahrňuje dotazník pre hotelových hostí. Prišla som k záveru, že zastúpenie vernostných programov v hoteloch na Slovensku je veľmi malé. A to nízke percento hotelov, ktoré majú vernostný program, nevenujú veľkú pozornosť jeho zviditeľneniu medzi zákazníkmi. Hostia ho len ťažko nájdu na ich internetovej stránke. Stránky neponúkajú dostatočné informácie. V návrhovej časti práce využívam získané informácie na tvorbu vernostného programu pre hotel Flóra**, ktorý je situovaný v turisticky známom Liptovskom regióne. Program som rozdelila do 5 stupňov. Stupeň začlenenie záleží od toho, koľkokrát hosť využije ubytovacie služby hotela Flóra**. Hotel od vernostného programu očakáva väčší počet prenocovaní.
