Body-Work Psychotherapeutic Approaches Dealing with Trauma

Abstract:

Ve své diplomové práci jsem se zaměřil na psychické trauma a jeho léčbu v kontextu psychoterapeutických systémů zaměřených na tělo. Na teoretickou část navazuje kvalitativní výzkum: fenomenologické zkoumání. V teoretické části jsem popsal pojem trauma, nastínil klinické vymezení podle diagnostického manuálu ICD – 10 a popsal klinický obraz u dětí i dospělých. Dále jsem se zaměřil na příčiny traumatické reakce, její dynamiku a symptomatologii. Psychické trauma způsobuje řadu změn na rovině kognitivní, prožitkové a tělesné. Práce s akutními a šokovými stavy spadá do oblasti krizové intervence, která využívá řadu prvků práce s tělem. Podrobněji jsem zmínil psychoterapeutické systémy zaměřené na práci s tělem a rozpracoval jejich společné faktory. Zmínil jsem se také o etických souvislostech. V empirické části bylo mým cílem porozumět tomu, jak psychoterapeuti zaměření na práci s tělem přemýšlí o psychickém traumatu, jeho vzniku, co je základem jejich terapeutického přístupu pro práci s traumatizovanými lidmi. Metodou polostrukturovaného rozhovoru jsem získal data od šesti terapeutů. V rozhovorech jsem sledoval tyto oblasti: představu psychického traumatu a jeho vzniku, způsob terapeutické práce, využití na tělo zaměřených intervencí, práci s tělem a emocemi, podmínky na straně terapeuta i klienta, které jsou nutné pro účinnou léčbu, cíle terapie, rizika v terapii a nakonec jsem se pokusil porozumět představě energie, k níž se terapie zaměřené na tělo často vztahují. V diskuzi jsem se věnoval oblasti kognitivních procesů v kontextu psychoterapeutických přístupů zaměřených na tělo, dále tématům, která se často objevovala v analýze rozhovorů: bezpečí a retraumatizace a také představě traumatické reakce u zkoumaných terapeutů. Jejich pohled jsem pak konfrontoval s pohledy psychodynamickým a kognitivně - behaviorálním.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis is focused on trauma issue and its treatment put into perspective of the psychotherapeutic systems aimed at the human body. Theoretical part is followed by the practical part results from the qualitative research: phenomenological examination. In the theoretical part, I described the term trauma, I outlined the clinical delimitation according to the ICD – 10 manual; I described the clinical picture of the children and adults as well. Furthermore, I focused on the causes of the traumatic reaction, its dynamics and symptomatology. Mental trauma produces many changes at the cognitive, emotional and physical level. Working with the acute shock comes under the field of crisis intervention that exploits many elements of the body work. I described the psychotherapeutic systems focused on the body work in more details and I elaborated their common features. I mentioned the ethical connection as well. In the practical part, I tried to understand the way the psychotherapists, interested in body work, consider the mental trauma, its origin and what is the basis of the therapeutic approach for the work with traumatized people. I gained the data from six therapists by the half structured interview. In the interview, I studied the following areas: the conception of mental trauma and its origin, the method of therapeutic work, the use of the body focused interventions, the work with body and emotions, conditions on the side of therapist and the client that are necessary for the effective treatment, the goals and risks of the therapy. Finally, I tried to understand the imagination of the energy to which the body focused therapy is very often related. In the discussion, I engaged in the field of cognitive process put into the perspective of psychotherapeutic, body focused approaches, further, I engaged the topics that appeared very often in the discussion analysis: safety and retraumatization; the imagination of the traumatic reaction of the examined therapists. I than confront their views with the psychodynamic and cognitive-behavioural views.
