Historical development of social security since the First Republic

Abstract:

Cílem této diplomové práce je poskytnout ucelený obraz o historickém vývoji sociálního zabezpečení od první republiky. Práce je rozdělena do 8 kapitol. První úvodní kapitola má za úkol čtenáře uvést do problematiky sociálního zabezpečení a seznámit ho se základními pojmy. Druhá kapitola je orientována na historický kontext do roku 1918, neboť již před tímto rokem vznikaly první zákony upravující oblast sociálního zabezpečení v České republice. Další kapitoly se již věnují rozboru změn a vývoji sociálního zabezpečení v jednotlivých časových úsecích. Třetí kapitola charakterizuje vývoj v období mezi světovými válkami, čtvrtá kapitola v období II. světové války, pátá kapitola poté vývoj po II. světové válce až do konce 80. let. Následující dvě kapitoly definují změny po roce 1989 a následný vývoj ve 21. století. Poslední kapitola má za úkol stručně shrnout dnešní podobu sociálního zabezpečení v České republice.

Abstract:

The aim of this thesis is to provide general background of the historical development of social security from the period so called The First Republic, throught the great wars, all the way to the curent reforms. This thesis is diveded into eight chapters. The first opening chapter underpins the crucial social security issues and introduces the basic terminology. The second chapter is mainly oriented around the historical context from the very begining, until the year 1918 This is because the very first law modification in this area of social security in the Czech Republic was established earlier that year. The following five chapters are then analysing the changes and the development of social security, which is described in individual time segments. The third chapter outlines the development during the interwar period. The fourth chapter is based around the period of the World War II. The fifth chapter talks about what happened after the second World War until the late 1980s. The last two chapters define the changes after 1989 and subsequent development in the 21st century. The final, eight, chapter is then briefly summarizing the current form of social security system in the Czech Republic.
