Comparison of the development of fertility in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after the Second World War

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá historickým vývojem plodnosti a porodnosti v České republice a na Slovensku po druhé světové válce a po rozdělení Československa v roce 1993. Hlavním cílem je zjistit a porovnat úroveň plodnosti těchto zemí a vysvětlit příčiny případných změn. Práce je rozdělena do několika částí. První část se věnuje přiblížení věkové struktury obyvatel České republiky a Slovenska. Druhá část se zabývá analýzou úhrnné plodnosti a průměrného věku matky podle pořadí narozených dětí. Třetí část je zaměřena na analýzu plodnosti podle legitimity po roce 1989. Tato část se věnuje zejména mimomanželské plodnosti. Mimomanželská plodnost je analyzována nejenom podle věku matky, ale také podle regionální diferenciace na okresní úrovni. Analýza plodnosti je ovlivňována sňatečností i rozvodovostí, proto těmto ukazatelům byla věnována další část diplomové práce. Poslední část se zabývá generační plodností, která je znázorněna pomocí konečné plodnosti, ukončené plodnosti žen ve věku 40 let a průměrného věku matek a pořadí narození.

Abstract:

This diploma thesis deals with the historical development of fertility and total fertility rate in the Czech Republic and Slovakia after The Second World War and after the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993. The main objective is to identify and compare the level of fertility of these countries and to explain the causes of possible changes. The thesis is divided into several parts. The first part deals with the approximation of the age structure of the inhabitants of the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The second part is devoted to the analysis of the total fertility and the average age of the mother according to the order of the births. The third part focuses on fertility analysis according to legitimacy after 1989. This section deals mainly with extramarital fertility. Extramarital fertility is analyzed not only by the age of the mother, but also by regional differentiation at the district level. The analysis of fertility is influenced by marriage and divorce, so another part of the diploma thesis was devoted to these indicators. The last part deals with generational fertility, which is illustrated by the final fertility, the end of fertility of women aged 40 years and the average age of mothers and the order of birth.
