The influence of social media on individuals of ages 18-26 with the emphasis on Instagram

Abstract:

Cílem bakalářské práce je zjistit, jaký vliv mají online sociální sítě na jedince ve věkovém rozhraní 18 až 26 let a zda existuje souvislost mezi pohlavím, věkem a vzděláním v míře vlivu sociálních sítí. Práce je rozdělena na teoretickou a praktickou část. V teoretické části představím nejpoužívanější sociální sítě, jejich historii, pozitiva, rizika jejich užívání, dále se zaměřím na sebevědomí a sociální vývoj jedince v tomto věkovém období. Praktická část je vytvořena na základě kvantitativního výzkumu, za užití dotazníku vlastní konstrukce jako výzkumného nástroje, ve kterém se budu zabývat tím, kolik času lidé tráví na sociálních platformách, k čemu je především využívají, zda užívání těchto sítí ovlivňuje jejich volný čas a vnímání světa okolo sebe a pokud si uvědomují, že je sítě ovlivňují, tak co s tím dělají. Budu se zajímat také o to, jestli některý obsah na sociálních sítích vyvolává v osobách negativní pocity a zda se to odráží např. na jejich sebevědomí.

Abstract:

The aim of this bachelor thesis is to find out the influence of social media on individuals of ages 18-26 and the probability of connection between gender, age and education in the matter of social media's influence. The theoretical part introduces the most used social media, their history, advantages and risks of their use. Furthermore, I will focus on confidence and social development of individuals between 18-26 years. The practical part is based on the quantitative research. My own questionnaire is used as a tool for research. It deals with the amount of time people spend on social media and how they use them. It also deals with the influence of social media on their free time and the perception of the world around then, and if they are aware of this influence, then what are they doing to deal with the issue. I will also focus on the impact of certain content on social media. For example, if it evokes negative feelings and if it reflects on their confidence.
