Celiac Disease Screening in the Adult Population in the Zlin District

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou diagnostiky celiakie u dospělých nemocných. I když se jedná o střevní onemocnění, je tato diagnóza jako příčina různých zdravotních obtíží u dospělých poměrně často opomíjena právě z důvodů jiných potíží než střevních dyspepsií. V teoretické části je popsána charakteristika nemoci, patofyziologie, diagnostika a způsob léčby, kterým je doživotní vyloučení lepku z potravy. Jsou zde rozepsány rizikové skupiny populace a nutnost cíleného screeningu u vybraných osob s různými symptomy a autoimunitními onemocněními. V praktické části je prováděn průzkum metodou dotazníkového šetření, oslovení respondenti jsou léčeni v gastroenterologických ambulancích. Cílem práce je zjistit, jaké zdravotní potíže nemocných vedly k diagnostice celiakie, délku trvání zdravotních potíží před určením diagnózy a jaký vliv mělo určení správné diagnózy a následně zavedení dietních opatření na vybrané aspekty kvality života nemocného.

Abstract:

This thesis deals with the diagnosis of the celiac disease in adult patients. Although it is an intestinal disease , this diagnosis is as quite often ignored a cause of various health problems in adults specifically because of the other problems than intestinal dyspepsia. The theoretical part of this thesis describes the characteristics of the disease, the pathophysiology, the diagnosis and the treatment, which is a lifelong exclusion of gluten from the diet. There are analysed risk groups of population and the need of screaning targeted at the selected individuals with the different symptoms and the autoimmune diseases. The practical part of the survey is conducted by the questionnaire survey, addressed respondents are treated in the outpatient gastroenterology. The aim is to identify the health problems of patients which led to the diagnosis of the celiac disease, the duration of the health problems before the diagnosis and the impact that a correct diagnosis and the introduction of dietary measures had on the selected aspects of the patient's life.
