The aim of this thesis is to consider the questions of beauty and truth in the work of the Irish writer Oscar Wilde. Wilde is supposed to be an advocate of the aesthetic movement. On the other hand his works usually contain some kind of moral. This thesis deals with occurrences which influence Wilde's work the most. Cílem této bakalářské práce je zvážit otázku krásy a pravdy v díle irského spisovatele Oscara Wildea, který je považován za zastánce estetického hnutí. Na druhou stranu jeho díla obvykle obsahují morální poselství. Tato práce se zabývá skutečnostmi, které nejvíce ovlivnily Wildeovu tvorbu.
