Personalization of local politics in the Czech Republic

Abstract:

Hlavním cílem disertační práce je představení konceptu personalizace politiky na úrovni komunální volební arény v České republice. Práce se zabývá posilováním vlivu osobností a nastavením komunálního volebního systému s potenciálem volební reformy směrem k vyšší míře personalizace. Analýza pracuje s daty veřejně dostupnými, ale taktéž s daty unikátními z vlastního provedení dotazníkového šetření. Hlavním cílem práce je potvrzení nebo vyvrácení hypotézy, která říká, že jistá úroveň personalizace je přítomna i v rámci české volební arény. Toho je dosaženo mmj. i za využití statistických metod. Práce nabízí také vlastní trojdimenzionální model prostoru politického rozhodování a vlastní design dalšího výzkumu.

Abstract:

The main goal of the dissertation is to introduce the concept of personalization of politics at the level of municipal election arena in the Czech Republic. The thesis deals with strengthening the influence of personalities and setting the municipal electoral system with the potential of electoral reform towards a higher level of personalization. The analysis works with data publicly available, but also with unique data from the actual questionnaire survey. The main aim of the thesis is to confirm or refute the hypothesis, which says that a certain level of personalization is also present within the Czech electoral arena. This is achieved, inter alia, by using statistical methods. The thesis also offers its own three-dimensional model of the area of political decision-making and its own proposal of further research.
