The needs of women during labour

Abstract:

Cíl: Cílem práce bylo zjistit nejdůležitější potřeby ženy v období porodu, zejména v I. době porodní, z pohledu rodičky. Metodika: Jako metoda sběru dat byly použity nestandardizované dotazníky. Dotazník obsahoval 18 otázek, z toho 15 otázek bylo uzavřených a 3 polouzavřené. Celkem bylo rozdáno 160 dotazníků, návratnost byla 142 dotazníků, což je 95%. Z tohoto počtu muselo být vyřazeno 12 dotazníků pro chybné vyplnění. Správně vyplněných bylo 130 dotazníků a tyto tedy mohly být zařazeny do průzkumu. Dotazníkové šetření bylo provedeno ve Vítkovické nemocnici a.s na oddělení šestinedělí v období od 1. 12. 2011 ? 29. 2. 2012. Výsledky: Průzkumným šetřením bylo zjištěno, že nejdůležitější potřeba žen v období porodu je potřeba psychické podpory ze strany nejbližších. Dále pak ženy nejčastěji uváděly potřebu psychické podpory ze strany zdravotního personálu a potřebu tišení bolesti, přičemž jako nejúčinnější nefarmakologická metoda tišení bolesti byla nejčastěji uváděna hydroanalgezie ? sprcha. Po ní následuje možnost pohybu a relaxace (správné dýchání). Rodičky již v době těhotenství mají představu o vedení a průběhu svého porodu. Rodící ženy, kromě 2 respondentek, hodnotily přístup zdravotního personálu porodního sálu kladně a porod probíhal dle jejich očekávání a představ. Přítomnost a podpora nejbližších i zdravotnických pracovníků v době porodu je důležitá až pro 90% rodících žen. Závěr: Většina žen má v dnešní době představu o vedení svého porodu i o místě svého porodu. Důležitý je empatický a individuální přístup k rodící ženě. Porodní asistentka by měla umět rozpoznat potřeby rodící ženy a správně na ně reagovat. Pokud pochopí potřeby rodičky, pochopí mnohem lépe její chování a pomůže rodící ženě úspěšně zvládnout porod.

Abstract:

Aim: The aim of the thesis was to determine the most important needs of women during childbirth, especially in the first stage of labour. Methods: Non-standardised questionnaires were used as a method of data collection. The questionnaire consisted of 18 questions. 15 questions were close-ended and 3 semiclose-ended. A total of 160 questionnaires were distributed, 142 questionnaires were returned, which was 95%. Out of those, 12 had to be discarded due to incorrect completion. 130 questionnaires were completed correctly and could therefore be included in the survey. The questionnaire based survey was carried out in the postnatal unit of Vítkovice hospital from 1st December 2011 to 29th February 2012. Results: The exploratory survey shows that the most important need for women during childbirth is the psychological support provided by their closest. Subsequently, women most frequently reported the need for psychological support from medical staff and the need for pain relief; hydroabsence of pain - a shower being the most frequently stated as the most effective non-pharmacological method of pain relief, followed by the possibility of movement and relaxation (correct breathing). Furthermore, the results of the survey show that women during pregnancy already have a clear idea of how the process of delivery is to be managed. All but 2 of the women after childbirth assessed the approach of the medical personnel in the maternity ward positively and the delivery itself met their expectations. Finally, the presence and support of their closest as well as the medici staff during delivery was important for up to 90% of women giving birth. Conclusion: Most women today have a clear idea of the procedure they would prefer as well as the place of their child?s delivery. What is important is an empathetic and individualised approach to the woman in labour. The midwife should be able to recognize the needs of the woman and properly respond to them. If she is able to understand the needs of the woman, she can identify with her behaviour more, which helps the midwife cope with the delivery successfully
