Anotácia:

Tato diplomová práce se věnuje problematice užití cílového jazyka a mateřského jazyka v hodinách angličtiny na vyšším stupni základních škol a zaměřuje se na důvody ke střídání jazykových kódů. Teoretická část práce se zabývá klady a zápory užívání cílového jazyka v hodinách angličtiny. Věnuje se také jak pozitivním, tak negativním aspektům užití mateřského jazyka a zároveň jeho podílu ve výuce ve srovnání s cílovým jazykem. V neposlední řadě se práce soustředí na metody výuky cizích jazyků z hlediska užití cílového jazyka a mateřského jazyka. Praktická část práce zjišťuje současnou situaci skrze výzkum provedený na druhém stupni vybraných základních škol a zkoumá užití mateřského jazyka v hodinách angličtiny. Výzkum si klade za cíl zjistit účely užití mateřského jazyka a určit nejčastější případy užití mateřštiny v hodinách anglického jazyka na vyšším stupni základních škol v České republice.

Abstract:

This master‘s thesis addresses the issue of the use of the target language and the mother tongue in English classes at lower secondary schools and focuses on reasons for code switching. The theoretical part of the thesis deals with the benefits and drawbacks of the use of the target language in English classes. It also considers both positive and negative aspects of the use of the mother tongue as well as its proportion to the target language in lessons. Last but not least, it concentrates on methods of foreign language teaching in terms of the use of the target language and the mother tongue. The practical part of the thesis investigates the current situation through research done at selected lower secondary schools, examining the use of the mother tongue in English classes. The study aims to discover the purposes of the use of the mother tongue and identify the most common instances of its use in English classes at lower secondary schools in the Czech Republic.
