The imperfect tense ti si alternation and its occurrence in finnish literature.

Abstract:

Předmětem této práce je tzv. střídání ti ~ si, což je gramatický jev značící proměnu slovesného tvaru při časování finských sloves v minulém čase prostém neboli imperfektu. První část práce popisuje tento jev, podmínky za kterých k němu dochází a faktory, které jej ovlivňují. Také referuje o pracích, ve kterých se objevuje informace o střídání ti ~ si. Druhá část se věnuje výzkumu počtu výskytů jevu u konkrétních finských autorů a textů různých časových období, což je hlavním cílem práce. Dalším cílem je předvést výskyt střídání ti ~ si na konkrétních příkladových slovesech.

Abstract:

This thesis is concerned with the ti ~ si alternation, which is a grammatical phenomenon that occurs while conjugating verbs in the imperfect tense in finnish. The aim of the first part is to describe this phenomenon, its conditions and factors influencing its use. This part also deals with works that include information about the ti ~ si alternation. The second part of this thesis contains the research. The main aim of the research and also the main aim of this thesis is to find out which of the two imperfect options is used the most among finnish writers and texts. Another goal is to show the occurrence of the ti ~ si alternation on some example verbs.
