Interplay of social unequalities in shelteres for women and mothers with children

Abstract:

Bakalářská práce se zabývá problematikou nerovností v azylových domech pro ženy a matky s dětmi. Azylové domy jsou úzce spojeny s tématem bezdomovectví a chudoby. Tato témata mají své genderové aspekty a souvisí především s širší otázkou sociálních nerovností ve společnosti. Skrze instituci azylového domu se autorka věnuje sociální stratifikaci a chudobě. Chudoba žen má odlišný obsah než chudoba mužů. Mareš shrnul aspekty, které v největší míře ovlivňují feminizaci chudoby. Těmito faktory jsou ty, které souvisí s jejich postavením na trhu práce a péčí o děti bez partnera. Feminizace chudoby nejvíce poškozuje právě neúplné rodiny. Dalším tématem je u této specifické skupiny žen právě prolínání nerovností. Feminizace chudoby souvisí s genderem. V případě žen v azylových domech však nelze hovořit pouze o znevýhodnění genderovém, ale i o znevýhodnění na základě sociálního statusu. Tyto ženy obecně spadají do kategorie nižší třídy. Kategorie genderu dle Kolářové vytváří ve vzájemném působení se sociálním postavením a s dalšími sociálně připsanými kategoriemi síť vícenásobného znevýhodnění. Práce si klade za cíl reflektovat aspekty, které vedou k prolínání sociálních nerovností v azylových domech. V praktické části práce čerpá z absolvované praxe v Azylovém domě pro ženy a matky s dětmi v Pardubicích, kde proběhl kvalitativní terénní výzkum.

Abstract:

The BA thesis deals with the problematic of inequalities in shelters for women and mothers with children. The asylum houses are associated with the topic of homelessness and poverty. These topics include their gender aspects and are connected especially with a broader question of social inequality in the society. The author deals with the social stratification and poverty through the institution of the shelters. The poverty of women has a different shape than the poverty of men. Mareš summarized the aspects that influence the feminization of the poverty to the broad extent. These factors are those that are connected with their role on a labour market and care for children without a partner. The feminization of poverty harms single parent families. Next topic for this specific group of women is interplay of inequalities. The feminization of poverty is connected with gender. It is not only the gender handicap, but also the handicap based on the social status that harms women in shelters. These women generally belong to the lower class category. The category of gender according to Kolářová makes in the mutual influence with social status and other social categories a network of multiple disadvantages. The aim of this thesis is to reflect aspects that lead to interplay in shelters. The practical part of this thesis is based from the internship in Shelter for women and mothers with children in Pardubice, where the research was made.
