Wedderburn's Theorem

Abstract:

V této bakalářské práci se věnujeme dvěma zvoleným důkazům Wedderburnovy věty o konečných okruzích s dělením. V první kapitole nejprve připomínáme potřebné pojmy a tvrzení z teorie grup, teorie okruhů, definujeme Möbiovu inverzní formuli a popisujeme některé vlastnosti multiplikativních aritmetických funkcí. Druhá kapitola je věnována kruhovým polynomům a následně jejich využití v prvním uvedeném důkazu Wedderburnovy věty. V poslední kapitole zavádíme pojem primitivního dělitele, budujeme teorii směřující k důkazu Zsigmondyho věty a nakonec uvádíme druhý důkaz Wedderburnovy věty využívající těchto výsledků.

Abstract:

In this thesis we present two selected proofs of Wedderburn's Theorem about finite division rings. In the first chapter, we recall necessary definitions and claims from group theory, ring theory, define the Möbius inversion formula and describe some properties of multiplicative arithmetical functions. The second chapter is devoted to cyclotomic polynomials and their usage in the first chosen proof of Wedderburn's Theorem. In the last chapter, we describe the concept of a primitive divisor, build a theory leading to the proof of Zsigmondy's Theorem and finally, we provide the second proof of Wedderburn's Theorem, which uses these results.
