Study on the formation of supramolecular complexes of adamantane-based azo dyes with cucuribit[n]urils using ESI-MS

Abstract:

Náplní teoretické části bakalářské práce bylo stručně charakterizovat hmotnostní spektrometrii, popsat z jakých částí se skládá hmotnostní spektrometr a stručně charakterizovat ionizaci elektrosprejem a iontovou past, neboť tyto jsou součástí hmotnostního spektrometru, na kterém byly prováděny analýzy popsané v experimentální části. Významnou částí této práce je kapitola věnující se cyklodextrinům a cucurbiturilům, makrocyklickým molekulám, jež jsou hojně využívány v oboru supramolekulární chemie a jsou rovněž studovány i výzkumnou skupinou doc. Roberta Víchy, tudíž mají své místo i v této bakalářské práci. Zbývající kapitola stručně pojednává o azobarvivech a jsou zde také zmíněny konkrétní příklady komplexů typu azobarvivo-cyklodextrin a azobarvivo-cucurbituril. Experimentální část je pak věnována nejen charakterizaci samotných azobarviv pomocí analýz ESI-MS, ale zejména pak jejich schopnosti vytvářet supramolekulární komplexy s cucurbiturily a v případě prokázání vzniku daného komplexu také studiu jeho chování v plynné fázi.

Abstract:

The content of the theoretical part of the bachelor thesis was the brief characterization of mass spectrometry, the clarification of the mass spectrometer elements and the consise description of electrospray ionization and ion trap, as these are components of the mass spectrometer on which the analyzes described in the experimental part were performed. An important part of this work is a chapter devoted to cyclodextrins and cucurbiturils, macrocyclic molecules, which are widely used in the field of supramolecular chemistry and they are also studied by research group led by doc. Robert Vícha, therefore they are included in this bachelor's thesis. The remaining chapter briefly discusses azo dyes and there are also mentioned specific examples of complexes such as azo dye-cyclodextrin and azo dye-cucurbituril. The experimental part is then devoted to the characterization of both azo dyes themselves and azo dye-cucurbituril complexes using ESI-MS analyzes. The experimental part then focuses on azo dyes characterization by ESI-MS analysis, with main emphasis on their ability to create supramolecular complexes with cucurbiturils. If the existence of said complexes was proven, its behavior in the gas phase was further analysed.
