Malostranská beseda in Prague - Cultural Center of Malá Strana

Abstract:

Malostranská beseda vznikla jako spolek roku 1868, od té doby je centrem kulturního života v naší čtvrti. Stávající známé publikace se věnují vybraným časovým úsekům v činnosti Malostranské besedy, často z osobního pohledu autora. V archivu Malostranské besedy je mnoho materiálu, který je částečně digitalizován. Cílem této práce je shrnutí celé historie původního měšťanského spolku a jeho následovníků, popis jeho činnosti od založení do současnosti včetně historických souvislostí.

Abstract:

Malostranská beseda was founded in 1868 and since then it serves as a centre of a culture life in our neighbourhood. So far, the literature about the MB has focused on selected periods of its activity, usually from the personal point of view of the respective author. There is lot of data-material in the archive of MB, which has been partly digitalized. The goal of this work is to summarize the entire history of the original local citizen organisation as well as its followers and to describe its activity since its foundation until present, including the historical context.
