Possibilities of social work with older people at risk of poverty

Abstract:

Diplomová práce se zabývá tématem ohrožení chudobou ve stáří v souvislosti se sociální prací. V teoretické části se zaměřuje na vymezení chudoby, koncepty chudoby, způsoby měření chudoby, příčinami chudoby a skupinami ohroženými chudobou, také materiální deprivací. V druhé kapitola se práce věnuje tématu seniorů ohrožených chudobou, vymezuje pojem stáří, stárnutí populace, senior, poukazuje na finanční situaci seniorů v České republice, zabývá se odchodem do důchodu a aspekty ohrožení chudobou u seniorů. Třetí kapitola popisuje sociální práci, paradigmata sociální práce, srovnává teoretické přístupy sociální práce. Výzkumná část analyzuje odbornou literaturu zaobírající se problémem chudoby ve stáří, ohrožení chudobou a sociální prácí se seniory ohroženými chudobou. Cílem práce je analyzovat, do jaké míry literatura tuto problematiku reflektuje. V závěru diskutuje dané poznatky vyplývající z provedené analýzy. Literatura byla vybrána dle požadovaných kriterií, aby odpovídala danému tématu. Z výsledku vyplynulo, že současná literatura se věnuje stáří a chudobě, seniorům ohrožených chudobou, ale ne přímo se věnuje sociální práci s těmito klienty. Detailnější popis shrnuje práce v diskuzi, která se nachází v závěrečné části práce.

Abstract:

The master's thesis deals with the risk of poverty in old age in relation to social work. The theoretical part is focused on defining poverty, concepts of poverty, poverty measurement methods, causes of poverty, groups at risk of poverty as well as material deprivation. In the second chapter the thesis deals with the topic of seniors at risk of poverty, defines the terms as old age, aging, senior, highlights the financial situation of seniors in the Czech Republic, deals with retirement and aspects of the risk of poverty among seniors. The third chapter describes social work, social work paradigms and compares theoretical approaches of social work. The research part analyzes literature related to the problems of poverty in old age, the risk of poverty and social work with the elderly at risk of poverty. The aim is to analyze the extent to which literature reflects this issue. In conclusion, discusses the findings resulting from the analysis. The literature was selected according to the required criteria to fit the theme. The results showed that the current literature is devoted to old age and poverty, seniors at risk of poverty, but it isn't directly devoted to social work with these clients. The more detailed description of the thesis is summarized in the discussion, which is in the final part.
