Transformation of borderlands in the Liberec region on the example of selected villages Ostašov, Horní Suchá and Karlinky

Abstract:

Proměna českého pohraničí, ?Sudet?, souvisela s odsunem německého obyvatelstva, které jej po dlouhá staletí obývalo a vytvářelo jeho přirozenou regionální tvář. Odsunu předcházel komplikovaný společenský vývoj v českých zemích, úzce spjatý s hospodářskou, ekonomickou a národnostní situací před druhou světovou válkou a během nacistické okupace. Odchod původních obyvatel měl velký dopad na hospodářství a produkci v Sudetech, jež neblaze ovlivnila též neznalost nových obyvatel místních zemědělských poměrů či výrobních procesů. Nemalý podíl na formování poválečné infrastruktury měla také politická situace v Československu. Proměnu lze sledovat jak na velkých městech, tak na malých sídelních lokalitách, jakými jsou Karlinky, Ostašov a Horní Suchá. Ty odsun poznamenal nemalou měrou stejně jako město Liberec, jehož jsou dnes součástí.

Abstract:

Transformation of the Czech borderlands also known as Sudetlands was connected with the transfer of German population out of these regions which Germans inhabited for centuries and created their traditional look. Before the transfer there was complicated social development in the Czech lands bound with the economical and national situation before the Second World War and in the period of Nazi occupation. As the original inhabitants left it had huge impact on the economical management and production in Sudetlands which was also affected by the inexperience of new settlers in the matter of regional agriculture and industrial production. The whole social infrastructure was under influence of the political situation in Czechoslovakia too. It is possible to watch the transformation on big cities as well as on small settlements such as Karlinky, Ostašov and Horní Suchá. They were affected in the same way like Liberec which they became a part of.
