Wine & Vine in Art and Art in Wine Labels

Abstract:

Tato práce má za cíl nastínit, jak se v průběhu věků vyvíjel odraz révy a vína v malířství a sochařství a jak probíhal vývoj vinných etiket. Speciální prostor zde dostává vinařství Château Mouton Rothschild, které významně přispělo k chápání vinných etiket jako součást umělecké tvorby. Práce je členěna na dvě části. První část poskytuje ucelený přehled zobrazování révy vinné a vína v malířství a sochařství. Důraz je kladen na provázání výkladu s aktuálním stavem vinařství a vinohradnictví i s danými historickými okolnostmi, neboť podoba uměleckého díla vždy jistým způsobem koresponduje s dobou, ve které dílo vzniká. Druhá část práce se věnuje vývoji vinných etiket a jejich chápání jako uměleckých děl. Na závěr je zdůrazněna významná úloha vinařství Château Mouton Rothschild, které jako první upozornilo na tradiční propojení vína s uměním. Jako pomyslný vrchol pak mohou být chápány právě umělecké etikety na vínech Mouton Rothschild.

Abstract:

The primary goal of this thesis is to depict a development of wine and vine in art and development of wine labels. Special emphasis is placed on perception of wine labels as works of art. The most significant change in that perception caused Château Mouton Rothschild with their design labels. This work is divided into two parts. First part, which is summarizing depiction of wine and vine in art throughout the ages, shows that wine culture is inseparably connected to the human culture. Emphasis are here put on a link between the historical circumstances and actual state of winemaking and viticulture, because it influences the artists and consequently their works of art.The second part is dealing with development of wine labels and their perception as works of art. Special focus is placed on design labels of Château Mouton Rothschild, because they changed the way, how are wine labels perceived. Mouton Rothschild also drew attention to long-term interconnection of art and wine.
